The Mi-8 Transport Helicopter was a medium-sized transport helicopter developed by the Soviet Mili Design Bureau in the late 1950s to early 1960s. The Mi-8 is a medium-sized helicopter with two engines and five blades with a single rotor. In 1964, both the military and civilian versions of the Mi-8 began production simultaneously. It is the world's largest helicopter in production and is known as the "Kalashnikov" in the helicopter kingdom.
