Deer horn beetles are insects of the Coleoptera family, also known as shovel beetles. The upper jaw of the male beetle is very developed and forms a horn like shape, and there are tooth protrusions on the inner edge, which is very similar to deer antlers, so it is called a deer antler worm. Deer antlers are distributed on all continents except Antarctica. Most of them go out to forage at night. In Taiwan, both adults and children are particularly fond of deer antlers. However, in recent years, some rare species have been on the brink of extinction due to excessive capture and sale, as well as deforestation of their habitats. Deer antlers are second-class protected animals in China, and buying and selling them is illegal.
