It is a species of insect unique to Costa Rica in Central America, known for its bright golden appearance. The body wall of this insect is hard, and the front wings are hard and keratinized, forming a protective sheath wing. The adults and larvae of the golden beetle both have chewing mouthparts, while the larvae are usually oligopod, with well-developed chest and feet and degenerated belly and feet. The eggs of golden beetles are mostly circular or spherical in shape, and their life cycle includes four stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. In nature, the shiny appearance of golden beetles is often used to attract the attention of the opposite sex during courtship.
