It is an insect unique to Costa Rica in Central America, known for its bright golden appearance. The body wall of this insect is hard, and the forewings are hard and keratinized, forming protective elytra. Both adults and larvae of the golden beetle have chewing mouthparts, while larvae are usually oligopoda with well-developed thorax and degenerated abdomen. The eggs of gold beetles are mostly round or spherical, and their life cycle includes four stages: egg, larva, pupae, and adult. In nature, the shiny appearance of gold beetles is often used to attract the attention of the opposite sex during courtship.
