是法国海军的旗舰，也是除美国之外唯一在役的核动力航空母舰。以法国著名军事领袖和前总统夏尔·戴高乐命名，这艘航母自2001年服役以来，已成为法国海军力量的象征。采用核动力推进，装备两座K15压水式核反应堆，提供了几乎无限的作战范围，只需船上补给即可。飞行甲板面积达12000平方米，能够搭载多达40架飞机，包括阵风M战斗机和E-2C鹰眼预警机。还装备了先进的雷达系统、防空武器和导弹发射能力。
