It is a species of fish in the family and genus Sailfish, commonly known as Umbrella Sailfish or Eastern Sailfish. Oceanic upper middle migratory fish are generally found in waters above the thermocline, often appearing in groups in the waters surrounding islands. Swimming speed is fast. It has the habit of reproduction and migration. Mainly feeds on fish, crustaceans, and cephalopods. Widely distributed in tropical and subtropical waters of the Indian Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, and Pacific Ocean, and can even enter the Mediterranean Sea from the Red Sea. Distributed in the South China Sea, East China Sea, and coastal areas of Taiwan, with the highest production in the eastern and southern parts of Taiwan. The flatfin sailfish is an important economic fish.
