The mountain zebra is the smallest type of zebra and also the earliest named zebra. Zebra is a mammal belonging to the horse genus of the horse family in the order of odd hooves. It can be divided into three subspecies based on body size and body stripes, namely the fine striped zebra, mountain zebra, and common zebra. Zebra is native to the eastern, southern, and southwestern regions of Africa, mainly inhabiting tropical and subtropical forests and grasslands. Zebra is a social animal, usually moving in groups of dozens or hundreds, and will go to the pond or stream to drink water in the morning and evening. Zebra is a rare ornamental animal that people pursue for its skin and meat. It has been hunted in large numbers and is now on the brink of extinction.
