It is an armored personnel carrier designed by British company GKN, mainly serving the Philippine army. It entered service in the 1990 s and is still in use today. Designed for export market sales, it was originally intended to complement GKNSaxon armored vehicles. It is considered an upgraded version of Saxon for its larger size and improved performance. The 4x 4 chassis and large-size wheels, combined with a good power-to-weight ratio, make it have good performance in both road and off-road conditions. The Philippines is the only user of Simba, and the United Kingdom does not use this type of armored vehicle. A total of 150 Simba were procured.
