The flint gun was invented by the French man Mahan, born in 1547 (mid-16th century) into a family of gunsmiths, locksmiths, and watchsmiths. It was improved on the basis of the revolver by removing the spring steel wheel, clamping a piece of flint on the jaws of the hammer, and having an anvil at the edge of the firing hole. When firing, the trigger is pulled, and under the action of the spring, the flint is heavily struck at the edge of the fire door, sparking sparks ignite the gunpowder. Greatly simplifies the shooting process, improves firing rate and shooting accuracy, is convenient to use and has low cost, making it easy for mass production. The European military was generally equipped with flint guns, which lasted for over 200 years until 1848.
