This helmet was manufactured in Germany around the mid-16th century. It was once mistakenly believed to be the relic of King Magnus Laduras of Sweden, who passed away in 1290. The helmet, together with a set of unrelated components, was displayed at the Rita Hall Gate Church in Sweden until 1866. The church is the tomb of the Swedish royal family and one of the oldest churches in Sweden. It is a Bassanet style helmet, characterized by a pointed mouth protruding forward in front of the mask, mainly used to deflect frontal attacks. Popular in Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries, it was commonly used to equip heavy armored pistol cavalry.
