It is the largest turtle in the Turtle family and the South American Elephant Turtle genus. It has a herbivorous diet and feeds on cacti and fruits, pineapples, water ferns, leaves, and grass. Can live in drier environments. It is also a very slow moving animal that can only move 260 meters per hour. Only distributed on 14 islands in the Cologne Islands (Galapagos Islands) of Ecuador, a South American country. The two most famous individuals of this species are the lonely George and the elephant turtle Diego.
