Gorilla is a general term for primates, hominids, and the genus Gorilla. There are two species: the East African gorilla and the West African gorilla. It is the largest among all extant primates, with a shoulder height of about 0.85 meters when quadruped and a height of 1.6-1.8 meters when standing. An upright gorilla can reach a height of 1.75 meters, but its actual length is even longer than this height because its knees cannot be fully extended. Vegetative, herbivorous, mainly feeds on fruits, leaves, and branches. The nearest relatives are two other primitive human genera, chimpanzees and humans, both of whom diverged from a common ancestor about 7 million years ago
