Ants are a type of insect in the family Antidae of the order Hymenoptera. Ants have a small and elongated body, a large head, a pair of compound eyes, and long antennae. There are many types of ants, with over 9000 known species in the world and over 600 confirmed species in China. Ants are found in almost every corner of the land, except for the extremely cold regions above the snow line at the poles of the Earth and high mountains. Ants have typical social group characteristics, including mutual cooperation in caring for juveniles, clear division of labor, and offspring taking care of the previous generation over a period of time.
