There is only one species under the genus Kunkarosaurus, the hunchbacked Kunkarosaurus. The fossil of Kunca hunting dragon was discovered in the Lagunia Formation in Spain, dating back to the Barremian period of the Early Cretaceous. Kunka hunting dragon is a small shark toothed dinosaur with a body length of only about 5 meters. Compared with other shark toothed dinosaurs, the most prominent feature of Kunkaosaurus is the towering neural spines on its two dorsal vertebrae adjacent to the sacral vertebrae. Paleontologists speculate that these two dorsal vertebrae of the Kunkarosaurus may have developed muscles attached to their spinous nerves, forming a fleshy mound like structure that is likely to have a display function..
