The main type species of the Canglong genus is Hofmann Canglong, which was discovered near the Meuse River in the Netherlands in 1780. Its scientific name means "lizard of the Meuse River" and was later translated as Canglong by Mr. Yang Zhongjian. The bite force of Hofmann's dragon is much higher than that of Hainuosaurus and Nephrosaurus. The biting force is similar to that of a tilted tooth dragon, with an estimated end force of 40000 to 60000 N. The Hofmann Canglong fossil is the first ancient biological fossil discovered by humans
