AE86 is a compact, lightweight, and cost-effective small car manufactured by Toyota Motor Corporation. It was put into production as the fourth generation Toyota Corolla in 1983. The TERCEL, launched by Toyota Motor Corporation in 1978, marked the beginning of the development of small cars from the simple but costly FR (front wheel drive) that took up space to the more complex but low-cost FF (front wheel drive) due to advances in automotive technology.
