Parrotosaurus, also known as Parrotosaurus, means "parrot lizard" in Greek. It is a genus of Parrotosauridae in the suborder Ceratopsidae, and lived in Asia during the Early Cretaceous period, approximately 123-110 million years ago. Parrotosaurus, Protoceratops, Triceratops, and other dinosaurs all have a hooked beak similar to that of a parrot. Scientists infer from its body shape and age that Parrotosaurus may be the ancestor of most ceratopsian dinosaurs. It is a small herbivorous dinosaur named after its parrot like mouth. They are very early ceratopsian dinosaurs that independently developed many features.
