Triceratops is a genus of ceratopsian dinosaurs that lived in western North America during the Late Cretaceous Maastricht period. It is one of the last known non avian dinosaurs that lived until the Cretaceous Paleogene extinction event 66 million years ago. The name Triceratops means "triangular face", derived from the Greek word tr í - meaning "three", k é ras meaning "horn", and ṓ ps meaning "face".
