The Australopithecus Africanus is a member of the early hominid family, which lived in the Pliocene 2-3 million years ago. The fossil remains of this ancient ape indicate that they resemble more humans today, with similar skulls capable of accommodating larger brains and features that resemble humans. The earliest Southern ape fossil was discovered in 1924 at the Tune Quarry in Cape, South Africa, and it is the skull of a young ape.
