This famous statue of Shakyamuni (also known as Buddha) is an artwork from China, made during the Tang Dynasty period from 618 to 907 AD. It presents Shakyamuni Buddha sitting on a lotus throne, with his right hand making a "Fearless Seal" (i.e. palm facing outward), his left hand resting on his knee, and his fingers facing downwards. The face of the Buddha statue is solemn and dignified, wearing a crown and a robe, showcasing the characteristics of Tang Dynasty Buddhist art. It is one of the important Buddhist artworks collected by the Minneapolis Academy of Arts, attracting the attention of numerous art enthusiasts and cultural and historical researchers.
