It is a perennial evergreen climbing shrub of the genus Tortoiseshell. Native to Mexico, it is now widely cultivated in tropical regions around the world. The stems are stout, green, 3-6 meters long, 6cm thick, 6-7cm long internodes, with aerial roots. Leaf blade cordate-ovate, 40-60cm wide, thickly leathery, surface shiny, pale green, back greenish white, margin pinnatifid, 1-2 larger cavities between lateral veins. Petiole green, up to 1 m long, base folded clasping, arranged imbricate. Like warm and humid environment, shade, suitable for indoor breeding, is a large indoor foliage plants. Flower language is health and longevity.
