It is a rotary bolt action manual sniper rifle developed and produced by Barrett Corporation in the United States. Launched. 338 Lapua Magnum caliber rifle bullets (8.59mm), filling the firepower gap between 7.62mm and 12.7mm calibers. The design began in 1997 with the goal of developing a precise tactical sniper rifle that is not based on any existing sports rifles. It was officially announced in October 2008 and began sales in early 2009. Its design focuses on long-range high-precision sniping, with an effective range of up to 1600 meters and a muzzle velocity of 940 meters per second.
