The Type 15 Light Tank (officially named ZTQ-15, abbreviated as the Type 15 Light Tank), codenamed Black Panther, is a type of light tank equipped by the People's Liberation Army of China. It is another key type of main battle equipment after the Type 99 main battle tank. The Type 15 tank is equivalent in weight to the old Type 59 tank, but has stronger firepower, mobility, and protection. It conducts a "frontline firepower assault" and is also known as a "lightweight main battle tank" by the outside world. Compared with the main force of the Chinese Army's Type 99 tank, the Type 15 tank has a compact and lightweight appearance, making it suitable for use in the high-altitude areas of western China and the terrain with dense water networks in the south.
