Embroidery balls are originally from China and are now distributed in Fujian, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Hong Kong, and the Yunnan Guizhou River region, with distribution in Japan and Korea. It often grows in valleys, streams, dense forests, or sparse forests on mountain tops below an altitude of 1700 meters, and is often cultivated near houses, temples, or courtyards.
