The Andean vulture is a massive bird species and one of the largest flying animals in the world. Because they are too large (weighing up to 15 kilograms), even a 3-meter wingspan requires the same assistance to achieve. Therefore, this type of bird enjoys living in windy areas, so they can glide effortlessly in the rising heat flow. As their names imply, Andean vultures are more common in mountainous areas, but some also live on windy coasts and even in desert areas with hot air currents.
