The pencil snail mitre shell is a marine snail belonging to the family of pencil snails in the subclass Gastropoda. The shell is thick and typical in the shape of a bullet, slightly resembling a bishop's crown, hence the English name Bishop's Crown Snail. Pen snails are common in the Indo Pacific region and inhabit shallow sandy bottoms. The largest type of bishop pen snail is 10 centimeters long, with a white shell and red yellow patches.
