Kaiyuan Tongbao is a copper currency minted during the Tang Dynasty, and coins began to have the name "Tongbao" in the Tang Dynasty. In the early Tang Dynasty, the Sui Five Zhu was used, which was light and confusing. In the fourth year of the Wude reign of Emperor Gaozu of Tang (621 AD), in order to rectify the chaotic currency system, Sui coins were abolished. Following the strict standards of the Five Zhu system of the Western Han Dynasty, the "Kaiyuan Tongbao" was minted to replace the remaining Five Zhu system in society. The Qian text was written by the calligrapher Ouyang Xun, with the inscription "0 Kai Yuan Tong Bao" on the surface, and the form still follows the Qin style Kong Yuan coins
