This ivory carved Cape of Saint Bryce was discovered in southern Italy or Sicily in the 12th century. Ivory overall: 12 centimeters. Currently housed in the Cleveland Museum of Art. Its shape is exquisite, with a series of six carved ribbons, and the outer circle depicts hunting scenes. The earliest surviving list of St. Bryce churches from 1482-85 includes a olivine adorned with silver rings and gemstones, known as the "Cape of St. Bryce.". By the 17th century, it was said that Saint Blaise used this horn to summon believers for worship.
