This set of scroll boxes is a North Korean cultural relic from the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), and its name is "Lacquered Wood Dragon and Phoenix Scroll Box". The decoration of the scroll box is very delicate, with magnificent dragon and phoenix patterns printed on the scroll, mother of pearl embedded in lacquer wood, twisted brass and copper wire. This scroll box is used by the royal family to preserve scrolls or important documents. It measures 11.5 x 11.6 x 87 centimeters (the scroll box was made between the 1700s and 1800s) and is currently housed in the Cleveland Museum of Art.
