The charm of this cultural relic lies in its exquisite silver inlay decoration: the five character four line poem interweaves with the image of a child. These poems evoke the concepts of non attachment and non duality, and were written by Buddhist monks. One of the main decorative elements of this basin is a child, possibly a young Buddhist pilgrim named Sultana, who embarked on a long spiritual journey to seek enlightenment. This bronze basin was made during the Goryeo period (918-1392) between 1100 and 1200 AD. This basin was sold by Gallery London Limited to the Cleveland Museum of Art.
