The entrance of Vienna University of Applied Arts in Austria is part of the Holy Cross Courtyard, which is a courtyard complex in the center of Vienna. It is located between Beautiful Lantern Street and Grassoff Street, and is today surrounded by a complex of monastery courtyards, abbots, chapels, and apartment buildings. The Holy Cross Courtyard is often referred to as the oldest apartment building in Vienna. It was built in the 13th century and has since belonged to the West Abbey of the Holy Cross. Most of the chapels and abbot's courtyard in the courtyard were demolished during the Baroque period and rebuilt by the abbot of the Holy Cross Abbey between 1659 and 1676.
