This sarcophagus is a granite sarcophagus from the reign of Ramses II in 1225 BC. It was discovered in Hannover, Egypt and is therefore named the Hannover sarcophagus. This stone coffin is carved from a huge granite monomer, which is very large in size, about 3.7 meters (12 feet) long, and weighs about 120 tons. The interior of this sarcophagus was originally empty, and no remains were found. However, its design and decoration indicate that it was once a funeral vessel for an important figure. The exterior of the stone coffin is decorated with delicate reliefs, depicting religious and mythological scenes of ancient Egypt. In 1835, it was gifted to the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, England.
