The Statue Group was created by Johann Nikolaus Donna, a sculptor from Vienna known for his works in Baroque style churches and palaces. The statue group includes Jesus and two criminals on the cross, as well as the Virgin Mary, St. John, Maria Marina, and the Roman centurion under the cross. The Calvary Mountains were built by Paul Esthaci in 1685, who was an Austrian diplomat and military leader. Calvary was built to commemorate the destruction of Frauenkirchen by the Turks in 1683.
