The original statue was made of bronze but has been lost. The surviving ones are marble replicas from the Roman period, with multiple different sizes and versions. The most famous replica among them is Farnese Hercules, created by sculptor Gricon in 212 and currently housed in the National Archaeological Museum in Napoli, Italy. The statue depicts Hercules who has just completed his twelve tasks, with a haggard face and melancholic eyes, showcasing his humanity and tragedy.
