The statue was created by Henry Alois (1844-1929) and was completed in 1895. This statue is 3.5 meters tall and depicts Richelieu standing on a base with four reliefs, holding a book in his hand. His full name is Armand Jean de Plessie de Richelieu, also known as Richelieu or Cardinal, because he is a cardinal and wears a red robe. He was the first Duke of Richelieu of the Bourbon dynasty in France and also the Prime Minister of Louis XIII, with significant influence on France's centralization and foreign policy.
