Satsuma in Japan fired a milky colored Japanese pottery, which began production in the late 18th century in Satsuma, Kyushu Island. It features exquisite cracked glaze and intricate colored and gilded decorative patterns. Satsuma originated in the late 16th century. Satsuma ceramics include official kilns, civilian kilns, and imperial kilns, distributed in the southern part of Kyushu Island in Japan. In ancient times, they belonged to the Satsuma Kingdom. This vase is painted with colorful enamel and gilded daily workers from the Meiji period (1868-1912), and the back features a rooster amidst blooming flowers and trees.
