It is an upright shrub that can grow up to 3 meters tall and 5 meters wide, with narrow gray green leaves that can grow up to 20 centimeters long. It turns yellow in autumn. In spring, green male inflorescences appear together with leaves, and the male inflorescences have yellow anthers. Like all willow trees, this species is dioecious.
