Whitby, located in North Yorkshire, England, is a historic monastery ruins situated on a cliff overlooking the sea. Originally established by King Oswey of Northumbria around 657 AD, it was later rebuilt after the Norman Conquest and remained the center of religious life until it was dissolved in 1539. Not only is Christianity an important location in English history, but it is also the legendary inspiration for Count Dracula. The site includes the ruins of a Gothic monastery from the 13th century, as well as a modern museum that showcases the story of the monastery. Whitby Abbey remains a popular tourist attraction to this day.
