It is a classic 35mm SLR camera launched by Olympus in 1972. It was designed by a team led by chief designer Miya Miya. Known for its compact body and excellent viewfinder, it was one of the smallest and lightest 35mm SLR cameras at the time. It was initially called OlympusM-1, but was soon renamed OM-1 due to a complaint from Leica. The OM system was also equipped with a Zuiko lens which was one of the finest of its time. Popular among professional photographers, but also ideal for hobbyists because of its portability and high performance.
