It is the most abundant species of zebra in Africa and belongs to the subgenus Zebra. Belonging to the same genus as horses and donkeys, it has unique black and white stripes, and no two individuals have identical stripe patterns. Strong adaptability, able to survive in various environments, but usually does not live in deserts, tropical rainforests, or permanent wetlands. Dependent on water sources, usually active within a range of 25-30 kilometers from the water source. The social structure is complex, dominated by family groups, including a single male and 1-6 females. Despite facing threats such as habitat loss and poaching, the overall population of zebras in the plains remains stable and has not faced significant threats of widespread decline.
