On September 1, 1988, it was launched, filling the gap between Nissan Bluebird, Nissan Duke, and Nissan Gloria. It is a sibling model of Nissan Skyline, Nissan Leopard, and Nissan Laurel in the same period. Its exterior features a low and flat front end and a slender body, adopting a rear wheel drive design. In the initial stage of launch, it only had a 5-speed manual transmission. It is a sports RV aimed at young people, using a 2.0-liter/2.4-liter/2.5-liter inline six cylinder engine, with power of 125 horsepower, 155 horsepower, and 205 horsepower respectively. It was planned to be released as a four door model of Nissan Silvia in the same period.
