Prunus mume 'Jiang Mei' is a wild plum flower, also known as wild plum. In ancient times, it was all wild plum and often grew in cold and desolate areas along mountain streams and waterfront. It was later transplanted and cultivated in gardens. The flowering period of Jiangmei varies, but relatively speaking, there are more early flowering varieties. Some varieties of Jiangmei have smaller petals and longer filaments, which can form a beautiful flower shape with long whiskers. Due to the fact that Jiangmei is derived from fruit plum, many varieties of Jiangmei still retain the habit of bearing fruit, becoming a plum with both ornamental and edible value for both flowers and fruits.
