Fossil specimens of Paradoxis trilobites from the Bournemouth Society of Natural Sciences. Trilobites are an extinct arthropod, a hard shelled organism with segmented bodies and jointed legs. They lived from 521 million years ago in the early Cambrian to 252 million years ago in the Permian, when they became extinct during the Permian Triassic extinction period. Marine organisms are usually small, but species of the Paradoxis genus can grow up to 45 centimeters in length.
