This work was originally commissioned by the king's architectural department to Nikolai Cousteau in 1707 to decorate the front yard of the Marley Castle. This work was moved to the terrace of the Tuileries Palace in 1716 and was counted there in 1824. On September 28, 1870, this work was sent to the Louvre. Another title of this work is Adonis' Rest After Hunting. This very exquisite sculpture showcases the superb sculptural skills of Nicolas Cousteau.
