It was established in memory of Soviet soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Battle of Berlin in 1945. Located in the center of Berlin, Tirgatten Park is one of the three Soviet War Monuments in the city, with the other two located in Treptor Park and Pankov. Built by the Soviet Red Army in 1945, it was the first Soviet monument in Berlin. It is not only a commemoration of the Soviet soldiers who sacrificed themselves in World War II, but also a tribute to the central role played by the Soviet army in the war.
