The Ascension Church located in Ukraine is one of the many religious sites that were destroyed during Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2023. This conflict has led to extensive destruction of cultural heritage, including 113 churches destroyed by Russian artillery fire, as reported by Ukrainian President Zelensky. These churches are not only symbols of faith, but also an important part of Ukrainian culture and history. War crimes recognized by international law, as religious sites should be protected and should not be targeted for attack.
