Dreamcast (DC for short) is a home game console released by Japanese video game company Sega on November 27, 1998 in Japan, September 9, 1999 in North America, and October 14, 1999 in Europe. It was the first console released in the sixth generation of electronic game consoles and the last home game console developed by Sega. The main competitors include Sony's PlayStation 2, Nintendo's Nintendo GameCube, and Microsoft's Xbox. Its sales during its lifecycle were only about 10 million units, making it one of Sega's most significant business failures.
