Also known as the curlew, it is a medium-sized wading bird widely distributed in the Eurasian continent. Known for its concealed reddish brown feathers and light yellow lower body, it has excellent protective coloration that makes it difficult to detect in forest environments. The head has unique stripes, and the eyes are positioned higher, giving them a panoramic view. The beak is long and sensitive, adapted to searching for food in moist soil, mainly feeding on earthworms, insects, and small invertebrates. It is nocturnal, usually hidden in the lower layers of the forest during the day, and most active at dusk and dawn. Breeding habits include building nests on the ground, usually in concealed locations in forests or tall grasses.
