The Churchill infantry tank was the last type of infantry tank in Britain and the most produced tank in World War II, with a total production of 5640 units. The Churchill tank was an infantry tank developed under the code A20 to replace Matilda. However, during the development process, the UK found that the A20 prototype could not meet their requirements yet. So in July 1940, the Vauxhall Motor Company accepted the contract to develop the A22 infantry tank. The first prototype was manufactured 7 months later. In June 1941, the first batch of 14 production type tanks were delivered to the British army.
