The Gabonese viper is a highly toxic snake species belonging to the genus Viper, found in tropical rainforests south of the Sahara Desert in Africa. It is one of the most venomous snakes in the world, with the longest venomous fangs and a much higher production of venom than other snakes. But generally more docile. It is the heaviest venomous snake in Africa, with a body length of 2 meters (about 7 feet) and a weight of 8 kilograms (18 pounds). They live on the ground in the forest and spend a lot of time waiting for some prey to pass by their resting place. The body color pattern is very similar to their surrounding environment, which improves their concealment and accuracy in predation.
