The black caiman crocodile, also known as the black crocodile, is a reptile belonging to the family Crocodylidae in the order Crocodiles. The black caiman crocodile is the largest among all caiman crocodiles, with a body length of up to four or five meters, a long and wide head, and a raised spine along the back. The color gradually darkens as it grows. Due to the protruding spine in the middle of the eyes of the black caiman crocodile, which resembles a frame of glasses, it is named the eyeglass crocodile.
